Why is the second one foot hose needed?
A steam dryer will use the same cold water source as your washing machine. The one foot hose is used to hook up direct to your cold water outlet. The "Y" adapter is then attached to the other end of the one foot hose and used to hook up both your washing machine and steam dryer to the same water source. So if yours is not damaged you do not need this part. Just keep it in case.
